Transforming performance through people

All organisations have the same need to deliver success through their people. Even with good strategy, planning and resources many organisations fail to reach their full potential because their people are not developed, aligned and engaged. My purpose in creating this website is to help organisations and people reach this potential by enabling them to understand ideas and implement techniques which I have used successfully in the past.

The organisations have varied from large complex global organisations to small local enterprises; including financial, industrial, transport, healthcare, logistics, professional, legal and not for profit and both private and public sector.

The solutions I have developed help organisations by improving the skills, knowledge, leadership and engagement of their people and are relatively quick, simple and easy to implement at low cost. Specifically they enable organisations to rapidly identify talent and future leaders, to develop them in a way directly linked to enhancing their business performance, to then enable those individuals to inspire and engage everyone else to focus on what the customer needs and to be entrepreneurial to help make the organisation world class. They also help get the organisation through the current tough times, minimise the risk of talent loss to competitors and position it to expand faster than the competition when the upturn starts. We know they work and they are based on initiatives I have implemented that have won various awards and some of which are now part of a Harvard Business School Case study. More information on these is on the Easy Wins page – it’s called that because they really are easy wins !

Those in HR should not just focus on what HR does inside the organisation but really understand how the organisations works and the environment within which it operates. It is only through doing this that HR can ensure that it delivers what the organisation really needs. Many people in HR wrongly think that this is very difficult to achieve. It takes some time and effort to research and fully understand the organisation and its environment but it can be done. This is the reason for my TV interviews on the publications page - to show that it is perfectly possible for HR people to understand an industry to the degree that they can even credibly present the key issues facing organisations to the public via the media.

I welcome contributions and questions from people who have implemented, or are trying to implement, initiatives similar to those covered on this website. I hope that this becomes a useful resource for everyone trying to help their people and organisations perform better. Good luck on your journey.
